JOHN ADAMS AWARD
The John Adams Award honors individuals who have dedicated their careers to protecting the constitutional right to counsel and ensuring that every person accused of a crime receives competent, zealous representation. The award recognizes excellence in criminal defense advocacy, commitment to justice, and adherence to the lawyer’s oath:
“I will never reject, from any consideration personal to myself, the cause of the defenseless or the oppressed.”
The award is sponsored by the Iowa Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Drake University Law School Criminal Defense Program.
